
Trew Knowledge recently partnered up with Blu Burger Grille, a gourmet hamburger restaurant located in Arizona. This small chain of restaurants prides itself on their “Build Your Own Burger” style menu. With over 150+ toppings the possibilities are endless.
The Objective
With many competitors showing up around the Arizona state and adopting this same menu style, Blu Burger wanted to stand out and remain known as the original Build Your Own Burger restaurant.
Our Approach
We came up with a contest for loyal and future Blu Burger fans to go online to the contest website and build their own burger using an interactive form. Users were also asked to give their burger a creative name to match the style of their burger. Each month the Blu Burger judges will select one burger to become the Burger of the Month.
Apart from developing the contest website, we also created posters, table talkers and a custom facebook page to promote and drive users to the contest website. We also paired the website with an e-newsletter to notify everyone who entered the contest who the winner was.

The Result
Contest entries have been pouring in. Within the first two months of launching the contest, Blu Burger has received over 200 entries, is increasing its email database, and receiving a lot of positive feedback. The winning burger has been sold over 80 times in just one location.
The Burger of the Month contest is a perfect example of how a great idea paired with an effective marketing strategy can boost awareness, create a buzz, and most importantly increase sales.
